Cairngorms Winter Skills December 2022

An early winter skills course run out of the Glenmore forest, making the most of the pre Christmas cool snap. We took cadets from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, and through the course of a week taught them how to operate safely in a British winter mountain environment. days spent teaching ice axe arrest, crampon techniques, navigation, and avalanche awareness among many more things. We really got our moneys worth to, due to the pretty horrendous weather conditions, which included 80mph gusts, white outs, and blizzards. However the guys did really well, and we managed to cover quite a lot.
